Daniel and Stephen

Daniel has always had a special connection with Stephen,my brother.
I am still trying to figure out why. He goes through times where he will ask for Stephen everyday. He will ask "Where is Stephen" over and over again, so sometimes I have asked Stephen to take him out and spend time with him. I think part of it is when we came back from Malaysia Stephen played with him a lot. Daniel loves being tickled and rough play like wrestling. Stephen is pretty tough so he can handle Daniel jumping on him! Daniel knows Stephen is his buddy!

Compassionate Toward baby sister

One day Elisha was sleeping in the car and had a bandaid on her face. I went to pick up Daniel who had stayed at grandma and grandpa's house. When he got into the car and saw her he got all worried and started crying. He asked " baby died?" over and over again and when she woke up he was so overjoyed to see her. She was just a year old then. She is almost 3 now and he still calls her baby. He will give her his toys if she cries for it and share his snacks with her. He is such a sweety. When i go to pick him up at his bus stop he gets all excited to see her!! Elisha acts happy to see him too most of the time!!

Jesus gives me the Strength I need

There is nothing better than knowing Jesus!
He is the reason I live and gives me
the strength I need to do what I can!

Speech and School

Daniel is now 7 years old and is in 1st grade at a school for children with special needs! He has a class of 5 and 2 teachers who are great for him. He gets very attached and will run to them and jump in their arms. As his mother that makes me happy and I feel like he is in good hands. The thing that seems to help him most is the routine of going to school. I see steady progress when he has a good routine going.
He is still at a 2 year old level in speech and drawing so it is difficult to communicate with him. He can't explain how he feels so we have to watch his behavior to see what's going on with him. He still can't say I love you but if I tell him I love him sometimes he will give me a kiss.
Many autistic children aren't affectionate but Daniel is and I am so glad! It helps because if he is upset he can't express himself but I can hold him and he calms down and feels comforted.

Why this blog?

This is all new to me! I want to keep a blog about my son Daniel who has a type of Autism. His progress needs to be documented!

My special Daniel

Hi there! I want to talk about my son
